Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Bromopedia: Journal of Biology Education Exploration is committed to upholding academic integrity and originality in all submitted works. To ensure this, every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a plagiarism screening process before entering the peer review stage.
Plagiarism Screening Procedure:
-
All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or similar tools).
-
The maximum similarity index allowed is 25%, excluding references, direct quotes, and commonly used phrases.
-
Manuscripts exceeding the similarity threshold will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright depending on the extent and nature of the overlap.
Types of Plagiarism Considered Unethical:
-
Direct plagiarism: Copying text verbatim without citation.
-
Self-plagiarism: Reusing one’s previously published work without proper acknowledgment.
-
Mosaic plagiarism: Borrowing phrases from a source without using quotation marks or changing the sentence structure while keeping the meaning intact.
-
Improper paraphrasing: Changing some words but keeping the original structure and meaning without citation.
Editorial Action:
If plagiarism is detected:
-
During submission: The manuscript will be returned or rejected.
-
After publication: The article may be retracted and appropriate notifications will be sent to the author’s institution.
By submitting a manuscript to Bromopedia, authors declare that their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism.
