Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of ULTABI (Interactive Biology Snakes and Ladders Game) media in enhancing students’ learning motivation and achievement on Fungi material among Grade X students at SMAN 1 Pandaan. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was employed, involving 71 students selected via cluster random sampling. The sample comprised an experimental class using ULTABI and a control class using conventional learning. Data were collected through motivation questionnaires and achievement tests, and then analyzed using N-Gain and independent sample t-tests. Results indicated that ULTABI significantly improved both variables. For motivation, the experimental class achieved an effective N-Gain of 77%, whereas the control class achieved 54% (moderately effective). For learning achievement, the experimental class scored an effective N-Gain of 76%, while the control class scored 42% (less effective). The t-test confirmed these differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the ULTABI interactive game is an effective learning medium to enhance students’ motivation and achievement on Fungi material. Its implementation creates an engaging, enjoyable, and student-centered environment that supports meaningful biology education.
