Abstract

Increased carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions due to human activities pose a serious threat to the global climate balance. Mangrove forests have a high capacity to absorb and store carbon, but this potential is often not fully utilized, both in environmental management and in the context of education. This study aims to analyze the potential of biomass and carbon absorption in the Patuguran Mangrove Tourism Jogging Track Ecotourism area, Rejoso, Pasuruan, and examine its use as a resource for learning biology class 10 based on local potential. This study uses a type of mixed method research that combines quantitative and qualitative approaches. The biomass measurement method is carried out non-destructively using allometric equations. The determination of the location of the sample was carried out by purposive sampling by making quadrant transects. The results showed that biomass was 38.44 tons/ha, with a carbon stock of 18.07 tons/ha, and a potential CO₂ absorption of 56.39 tons/ha. This figure is relatively low when compared to the IPCC carbon stock reference value in mangroves in the tropics, indicating that carbon storage capacity is not optimal and the need to improve ecosystem quality. The results of the identification of the relationship between the results of the research on biomass analysis and carbon absorption potential in the Patuguran Mangrove Tourism Jogging Track Ecotourism Ecotourism, Rejoso, Pasuruan with biology learning are found in the material Environmental Change class 10 in the Phase E element.
